James D. Ackerman

President & Chief Investment Officer

 

Jim Ackerman founded Ackerman Asset Management, LLC (AAM) in 2005, as a natural progression of an investment industry career that began in 1996. Prior to founding AAM, Jim’s work focused on Institutional Equity Research and Private Client Portfolio Management while at: 1) Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc., 2) Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co, 3) Punk, Ziegel, & Co., and 4) Citigroup Smith Barney. He ranked #2 out of 26 Research Analysts at Legg Mason and received multiple promotions to the most senior levels of Equity Research. Jim’s work history also includes eight years in hospital administration at NYU Medical Center and healthcare management consulting.

 

He has spoken at industry investor conferences and has been quoted on his investment opinions in The Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Money Magazine.

  • MBA in Finance, New York University’s Stern School of Business
  • MHA in Health Administration, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business
  • BS in Chemistry, Dickinson College

Community:

Chair of the Investment Committee at B'nai Israel Congregation and Past Chair of the Investment Committee at Jewish Foundation for Group Homes.

 

Personal:

Jim and his wife, Anne, have 3 daughters, who have all too rapidly grown up.  When taking a break from work, Jim loves playing golf, running (1-time Marine Corp Marathoner), and riding on the Peloton.
